Amped by Douglas E. Richards

AmpedI recommend Amped which is another 4-5 star Sci-fi thriller by Douglas E. Richards that reads so fast its 350+ pages seem like a short story. Mystery has been one of the factors Mr. Richards loves to weave into his action, adventure, Sci-fi thrillers. In that way he reminds me much of Isaac Asimov and his way to "teaching" through the dialogue of his characters reminds me of Robert Heinlein.

——————————SPOILERS——————————
Mr. Richards returns to Wired series and delightful co-protagonists Kira Miller and David Desh. By now they have assembled a collection of folks committed to their cause. Kira has found a way to enhance human intelligence for brief periods of time and her collection of brilliant scientists take her drug under strict conditions and while "enhanced" realize discoveries that are far more advanced than current technology.

One technology Kira discovered early in her research was how to increase the longevity of people's lives. The fabled fountain of youth. In Wired powerful forces disguised behind other powerful forces did all they could devise to extract this discovery from her, but her defenses held up. She had realized releasing the discovery would be devastating to the world. David Desh however discovered if "man" expanded into space the devastation Kira imagined would not happen. So they have collected scientists together secretly to try to make breakthroughs in faster than light travel and other fields that will help realize David and Kira's dreams of improving humanity and improving people's lives.

No thriller is without their villains who are well-equipped to capture and extract the information from this secret group of enhanced geniuses.

Mr. Richards must have loved mysteries as well as science fiction as I've yet to read anything by him that was not like pealing an onion. Once the horrible villain has been neutralized, they learn they were only puppets of even more horrible villains. Once they are neutralized… so Mr. Richards' Wired series is also a tightly wound mystery where the reader discovers deeper and deeper secrets, even to the point that there may be villains inside their carefully screened group. This realization has them believing they are fighting villains from all angles, including from inside as well as outside.

Read this ebook and listen to the eAudiobook simultaneously in three session between Tuesday, October 8, 2019 and Thursday, October 10, 2019. I recommend this 4-5 star thriller.
